A Community Board’s goal is to give all of its residents an opportunity to participate in the important decisions affecting their neighborhoods’ accessibility and overall quality of life. These include our schools, streets, businesses, homes, public spaces, and so much more.
Each Community Board and committee meeting provides a platform where individual community members can request time to speak and share ideas and concerns or voice complaints relating to important things in their neighborhoods.
As Chairman of the Board, I urge every shareholder to participate in all facets of this work because the local initiatives and concerns drive the major ones in our City. In order to create a strong Community Board 17, we must work hard on common concerns like housing, sanitation, traffic, safety, and jobs, as well as on uplifting our seniors and youth. Our Community will only get better if we come together as the village we are. We will rise to the next level only if we all address concerns that are plaguing our community.
I encourage you to join one (or more) of our committees, participate in community events, attend the General Board meetings and Public Hearings (all of which are on our website calendar), or simply give us a call to voice your issues or suggestions.
It is my pleasure to work with all of you to move this community forward.
I look forward to meeting you all personally at our next meeting.
In community service,
Rodrick F. Daley
Chairman, Brooklyn Community Board 17
