Join a Committee

Although committee membership must be composed primarily of Board Members, membership is also open to non-Board Members. This allows for broader, grassroots public representation on the Community Board’s standing committees and encourages and facilitates citizen participation in local government within our communities.
Committee meetings typically occur monthly on a recurring day beginning at 7:30 pm and are held online.

Below are the requirements to join a committee:

 

1. Attendance Requirement
  • To be eligible, an individual must have attended at least two meetings of the committee within the past four months. To join the committee mailing list to get meeting links: Committee Mailing List
2. Application Form
  • Applicants must complete the updated Committee Registration Form found on the CB17 website. (see forum below)
  • The form will include a short statement of interest (up to 200 words) in which the applicant explains why they wish to join the committee.
3. Probationary Period
  • Once the form is submitted, the applicant enters a 60–90 day probationary period.
  • During this period:
  • The applicant must maintain regular attendance and may not miss three consecutive meetings.
  • The applicant cannot vote until the probationary period is completed.
4. Final Determination
  • At the conclusion of the probationary period, CB17 will review the applicant’s participation and make a determination.
  • The applicant will then be informed whether they have been appointed as a committee member.
