Ability and Access

- Purpose: The Ability and Access Committee seeks to identify and eliminate barriers for all people to access public services and infrastructure and to educate the public on these issues.
Asian Affairs

- Purpose: The Committee provides a forum for residents from the Asian community to address local issues.
By-Laws

- Meets: As needed
- Purpose: The By-Laws Committee meets to discuss changes to the Board’s By-Laws (our constitution), which mandates the structure of the Board and its meetings. The Committee places amendments to the By-Laws before the Board for a vote and keeps the Board Members aware of the amendments being proposed.
Economic Development-Waterfront

- Meets: As needed
- Purpose: The Economic Development/Waterfront Committee meets to discuss issues involving our industrial and commercial areas and ways in which we can improve the local economy and job base in the community and along the waterfront.
Education/Youth

- Purpose: The Education/Youth Committee meets to discuss issues on school policies, construction/repair of schools, examines issues affecting the youth of the community including recreation, education and employment programs.
Executive

- Purpose: The Executive Committee is made up of the Board’s Officers and meets monthly to determine future agendas and what issues to pursue.
Finance

- Purpose: The Finance Committee has oversight of the Community Board’s annual budget and hosts a meeting in the autumn to prioritize the Board’s requests for the City’s Capital and Expense Budgets for the following Fiscal Year.
Health and Human Services

- Purpose: The Health Committee meets to discuss oversight of health policies and infrastructure and other related issues
Housing

- Meets: As needed
- Purpose: The Housing Committee meets to discuss home ownership and tenant/landlord issues, housing quality and affordability, services available to tenants and homeowners though governmental and community-based agencies.
Immigration

- Meets: As needed
- Purpose: The Immigration Committee meets to discuss the numerous issues that affect the many immigrant populations who reside in the community.
Land Use/Landmarks

- Meets: As needed
- Purpose: As defined in the Uniform Land Use Review Procedure pursuant to Section 197-c of the New York City Charter, the Land Use Committee meets to determine the Board’s response to proposed changes to zoning and land use. The committee usually meets right after a public hearing and reports its findings at the next Board Meeting.
Membership and Attendance

- Purpose: The Membership and Attendance Committee meets right before our monthly Board Meetings and reviews the attendance of our Board Members, review the records of Board Members who leave the public meeting within an hour and hold formal hearings on the attendance of Board Members. The committee can make a recommendation to remove a Board Member to the entire Board.
Parks

- Purpose: The Parks Committee meets to discuss issues of parks use, policy, maintenance and repair.
Public Safety

- Meets: As needed
- Purpose: The Public Safety Committee meets to discuss local issues involving police, fire, emergency services and emergency preparedness (in case of natural disasters, terrorism, power outages etc.) and other quality of life concerns.
Sanitation and Environment

- Purpose: The Sanitation/Environment Committee meets to discuss issues involving the Department of Sanitation, sewer and water issues and the numerous State and Federal environmental agencies. The committee also looks at sources of local pollution and sanitary problems.
Site Selection

- Purpose: The Site Selection Committee makes recommendations on the siting of public facilities within the district’s boundaries.
Special Sub-Committee on Last Mile Trucking Facilities
- Chair: Katherine Walsh
- Meets: As needed
- Purpose: The Special Sub-Committee on Last Mile Trucking Facilities examines the impact of e-commerce issues in the local community and beyond and makes recommendations to City and State agencies for changes in the law governing such facilities and their impact on the local community.
Transportation

- Purpose: The Transportation Committee holds meetings on transportation infrastructure, traffic movement, truck routes, highway safety and pedestrian safety.
