Neighborhood Associations<\/h2>\n

A neighborhood association is a group of self-organized residents and community stakeholders who collaborate to advocate for neighborhood concerns, organize community events, and generally enhance the overall quality of life in a defined geographic area. They range in size and scale from a few dozen dedicated volunteers, to incorporated organizations with thousands of members and paid professional staff. The District Office interacts regularly with these entities regarding neighborhood-level matters such as historic preservation, land use proposals, major festivals, local parks and open spaces, etc.

Block associations exist for similar purposes as neighborhood associations, but on a smaller scale: typically a few adjacent blocks or a single street. Co-membership in the larger neighborhood association is common.
