This allows for broader, grassroots public representation on the Community Board\u2019s standing committees and encourages and facilitates citizen participation in local government within our communities.<\/span><\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Committee meetings typically occur monthly on a recurring day beginning at 7:30 pm and are held online.<\/span><\/h6>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8212;<\/span><\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Below are the requirements to join a committee:<\/span><\/h5>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1. Attendance Requirement<\/span><\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"indent-1\">\n<h6><span style=\"color: #000000;\">To be eligible, an individual must have attended at least two meetings of the committee within the past four months. To join the committee mailing list to get meeting links: <a href=\"https:\/\/cbbrooklyn.cityofnewyork.us\/cb17\/committee-meeting-mailing-list\/\">Committee Mailing List<\/a><\/span><\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2. Application Form<\/span><\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"indent-1\">\n<h6><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Applicants must complete the updated Committee Registration Form found on the CB17 website. (see form below)<\/span><\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"indent-1\">\n<h6><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The form will include a short statement of interest (up to 200 words) in which the applicant explains why they wish to join the committee.<\/span><\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #000000;\">3. Probationary Period<\/span><\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Once the form is submitted, the applicant enters a 60\u201390 day probationary period.<\/span><\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #000000;\">During this period:<\/span><\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"indent-2\">\n<h6><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The applicant must maintain regular attendance and may not miss three consecutive meetings.<\/span><\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"indent-1\">\n<h6><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The applicant cannot vote until the probationary period is completed.<\/span><\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #000000;\">4. Final Determination<\/span><\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"indent-1\">\n<h6><span style=\"color: #000000;\">At the conclusion of the probationary period, CB17 will review the applicant\u2019s participation and make a determination.<\/span><\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"indent-1\">\n<h6><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The applicant will then be informed whether they have been appointed as a committee member.<\/span><\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8212;<\/span><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #000000;\">For Community Members Interested in Joining a Committee:<\/span><\/h5>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We encourage you to visit our website to learn more about each committee, its responsibilities, and meeting schedules.
